Event description
Under the cathedral ceilings of the Royal Exhibition Building, Orchestra Victoria will perform composer Steve Reich’s towering musical work: Music for 18 Musicians. Composed between 1974-6, this breakthrough work spans percussion, string, clarinet, voice and piano, creating a hypnotic sonic palette that broke convention through its warmth and sonic beauty, and became genre defining for the minimalist movement.
Accompanying this performance is a large-scale commissioned video work by New Zealand-born multimedia artist Jesse Woolston whose work will challenge the experience of natural phenomena in a glorious, emotional response.
This is a seated performance.
