Stitch and Fix: Blind Hems with Robyn

What’s it all about?
Pants too long? Skirt too frumpy? Sounds like you need to fix that hem. But don't get out the sticky tape and staples, Robyn to the rescue!
Learning to adjust a hem is a valuable technique for shortening the fabric at the bottom of any pants, skirt or dress. Or even short sleeves. The 'blind hem' stitch is a unique sewing method of making a hem as subtle and unnoticeable as possible.
In an effort towards sustainable fashion and adding extra life to our garments - reusing, repurposing, mending and repairing - Robyn is teaching us to mend our clothes.
Materials and instruction are provided, just bring along a garment to mend OR practice with our class fabric.
What will we cover?
Bring along a sewing project or garment in need of a hem adjustment and access the tools, materials and know-how to set you up to complete your project.
Your teacher Robyn Bunting is an experienced Film and TV costume maker, has some good stories and loves a challenge. She'll help you identify sewing and mending methods and materials to progress your project.
Tools and materials will be available, but bring along a project or garment. Otherwise, feel free to practice with scrap fabrics in class.

Who will be teaching?
Robyn Bunting is a reuse, repurpose and remake enthusiast who owned the business and studio ‘Harold and Maude‘ on level 2 of the Nicholas Building, which focused on recycling, repurposing and remaking!
Robyn has spent 35 years working in theatre, film and television industry making all sorts of things using sewing technique of all types.
