Overview
AACAI NSW invites you to a day of professional development in stone artefact identification and analysis, presented by Dr Trudy Coleman and hosted by Heritage Now. Participants can register for either the introductory morning workshop, the advanced afternoon workshop, or both sessions at a discounted rate (with lunch included).
Places are limited to 15 people.
Part 1 (Morning): Stone Tool & Artefact Identification

This session is intended for participants new to stone artefacts, or those who want a refresher on artefact identification.
By the end of the session participants will be able to:
Identify stone sources and characteristics.
Identify common NSW raw material types.
Identify a stone artefact and classification.
Identify basic artefact attributes (cores & flakes).
Recognise common retouch & tool types.
Part 2: Advanced Stone Tool Identification & Analysis

๐ 1:00pm โ 3:00pm (2 hours)
This session is intended for participants familiar with stone artefacts and will focus on more advanced stone artefact identification to link analysis and interpretation.
Participants will get a certificate of participation.
For those who have Archaeological Passports this will be an opportunity to work towards sign-off on lithics skills.

This afternoon workshop covers the same content as the morning Part 1 session. It provides another opportunity for participants who missed the first session (which sold out rapidly) to complete the Stone Tool & Artefact Identification training.
