    Event description

Kia ora. Please join us for a fun and engaging digital safety and wellbeing workshop for years 1-8* tamariki/children, families and whānau. Strong digital skills are essential to digital equity, and the most fundamental skills are being able to manage your digital safety and wellbeing online. So join us and enjoy a cuppa and morning tea while learning digital safety strategies to keep your children safe from the moment they start using digital devices.

Te tamaiti/child participants will receive a certificate, and family members and whānau will receive a flyer with handy information.

    Expected participant outcomes:

    • Confidently talk about digital safety
    • Be able to create easy and strong passwords
    • Become knowledgable about popular apps and games and their benefits and dangers
    • Understand how to guide tamariki to be safe and well online
    • Confidently use the STOP, BLOCK & TALK® digital safety strategy
    • Understand what a digital footprint is and how it will affect future opportunities for all children

    About the facilitators

Neysa has over 20 years of experience in IT and has extensively researched digital safety and wellbeing. She is passionate about empowering children, tamariki and rangatahi to be safe, responsible digital citizens. In addition to her work with Digital Waitaha, she is a CORE Education facilitator.

Shun is an ECE teacher who delights in working with tamariki. He is passionate about helping tamariki reach their full potential.

*If you have additional children outside this age group, they are welcome to come along. We know that 1 hour is a long time for our wee tamariki and will have fun games to keep them entertained if you have children in the older age groups.
