STORIES FROM THE BEAR CAVE - Sydney storytelling event

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Join Storyteller Bear Heart and special guests for a cosy, intimate, and meaningful evening of storytelling, music, and mythic musings to tickle your soul and rattle your bones.

We are bringing the ancient craft of storytelling to a funky little corner of Sydney and you are invited to awaken your mythic imagination and lose yourself in the twists and turns of fairy tales, legends, and myths that have been passed down for generations through the jaws of storytellers, bards, and poets.

These old stories contain vital information from other realms, encoded in an easy-to-consume form, and delivered directly to the marrow of your bones. They provide a map to help us navigate the deepest and darkest reaches of our unconscious and face off with the dangers that lurk down there in the shadows.

Humans are creatures of story and have been sitting around fires telling and hearing stories since the beginning of time. As a collective, we are experiencing the consequences of a society that has lost its ability to see the world through a mythic lens.

We call on the medicine of the bear to help us turn inwards during this time of global upheaval. We recognise that we are being called into hibernation, a time to slow our breathing, quieten our hearts and conserve our energy so that we may tap into our intuition, heal our instinct, and awaken the wildly powerful force of our unconscious.

Thursday, June 8th.

Nathan Meola is a medicinal storyteller, master of ceremonies, and bodyworker. He spent most of 2022 living in a forest on a misty mountain in a regenerative leadership program learning about the function of a storyteller in traditional cultures. It was during his time in the forest that Bear Heart emerged. He is a carrier of bear wisdom and spends his time teaching humans how to slow down. He runs online storytelling events, and Fortnightly embodied improvisation workshops. He offers bodywork and mentoring for private clients both in person and online.

Proudly supported by The Fifth Direction
The Fifth Direction is a mythopoetic community that I have been a part of since 2017 and is where I was first introduced to storytelling, myth, and the incredible men and women who would become my teachers and mentors. It is with great honour that I acknowledge by storytelling lineage through the support of The Fifth Direction.
