Stories That Set Us Free: A Guided Liberation Writing Workshop

Description: This workshop invites participants to examine the stories they’ve inherited about identity, worth, success, survival, and consciously rewrite them. Through guided prompts and reflection, writers will begin a piece that reframes their lived experience on their own terms.
You’ll leave with the foundation of a personal narrative or essay and a new lens for future writing.
These sessions will NOT be recorded.

By the end of this workshop, participants will leave with two original pieces of writing, a clearer sense of their voice, and renewed confidence in their ability to shape their own narratives.

About the facilitator: Dr. Amber Epps is an author, artist, and lyricist whose work focuses on liberation, memory, and truth-telling. She wrote the introduction to Life Sentences: Writings from Inside an American Prison and is the author of mushroom logic, vol. 1: doves cant cry. thats stupid. Her work explores grief, spirituality, humanism, resistance, and survival. Amber is a member of the #notwhite collective and the Executive Director of Write Pittsburgh, where she champions writing as a tool for transformation, liberation, and community building.

Refund & Cancellation Policy: Attendees can cancel their registration 7 days or more before the event for a full refund (minus ticketing fees). If there is a need to cancel registration less than 7 days before the event, 50% of the ticket cost will be refunded (minus ticketing fees). 

Write Pittsburgh reserves the right to cancel events due to unforeseen circumstances including low registration. If this happens, registrants will receive a 100% refund of the workshop cost (minus ticketing fees). Please note that Humanitix does not allow us to refund ticketing fees, so that is not something that we have any control over.
