Stories for Impact: 2 Day Digital Storytelling Workshop
Event description
This two-day workshop is designed to equip you, as a facilitator, with the tools, techniques, and confidence to guide others in creating their own digital stories using smartphones and other accessible equipment.
Hosted by Hapori, in partnership with Digital Storytellers, Seeds for Change and Hive 11, this programme prepares you to support others to FIND, MAKE, EDIT & SHARE impactful stories that support projects, causes, and organisations.
You’ll learn through experiencing the workshop in action - taking part as a participant while also reflecting on facilitation methods, group dynamics, and ways to adapt the process for different learners.
By the end, you’ll not only know how to run the workshop yourself, but you’ll also have completed a short practice story and developed strategies for supporting others to continue creating stories into the future.

About the Facilitator:
This session will be facilitated by Erica Austin (she/her) - a versatile community strategist, facilitator, storyteller, and experience curator who empowers people and organisations through strengths-based growth and inclusive culture. With a background in architecture, Erica designs transformative experiences (both virtual and in-person) that foster belonging, spark collaboration, and lead to collective impact. Her storytelling practice helps groups surface shared narratives, deepen understanding, and catalyse meaningful change.
As a Systems Change Hapori, we are always keen to transform inequitable systems. Part of that is being open and transparent about what it takes to bring incredible opportunities like this to our community,
When creating this event, we want to ensure our budget is balanced so we can continue with future projects while also being mindful of our ticket affordability: To this end we have kept the prices as low possible and instead opened a donation link for those who can to assist with the overheads.
Thanks to The Todd Foundation granting us $6,000 we are close to covered, BUT we’ll need an extra $963 above minimum sales to fully cover the event expenses.
If you or your organisation is in a position to do so, we warmly invite you to contribute a little extra.
Together, we can make sure powerful kaupapa like this are sustainable for the long haul.
