Description

Write, explore, and learn about the refined art of traditional Japanese calligraphy. Participants in this workshop will be able to choose letters to learn to write from three sets of Japanese written characaters; Hiragana, Katakana, or Kanji. Participants will begin to learn to write with a traditonal Japanese calligraphy brush and will take home a gorgeous piece of art of their own making.

Maiko was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan and began practising calligraphy at just five years old under the guidance of her mother - also a calligrapher. Maiko became a master of Japanese traditional calligraphy in 2017 and has held workshops for children and adults throughout Eastern Japan. Maiko now lives in Tasmania with her family.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start time. All classes will start promptly.
