    Overview

The ancient art of storytelling comes to life on the stage when five or six storytellers from different walks of life share a true and deeply personal story.

    Theme for the evening

    "What Could Possibly Go Wrong?"

    About the night

Story Room Aus is held on the first Tuesday of every month. The venue, Bucketty’s Brewing Co. Brookvale, is a warm and friendly environment, where you can mingle with friends, make new friends, relax with a beer, enjoy a meal and be entertained by the eclectic and talented storytellers. This event connects the community through the sharing of real stories. Enjoy drama, laughter and sometimes tears and have a chance to be a part of something different here on the Northern Beaches.

Please Note:  Venue will be open from 5.00pm allowing time for you to order a meal and have a drink before the entertainment commences at 7pm sharp.

About the New Venue - Bucketty's Brewing Co, Brookvale

There is so much to learn about Bucketty's and its humble beginnings.  It's a family owned business with much blood, sweat and tears making it what it is today.

I can't think of a better place for Story Room Aus to call home, after-all beer and stories are like peas in a pod, they just fit perfectly.

    The Food

Check out the menu. You certainly won't starve to death while you listen to some great stories. We are however trying to learn how many people might buy meals, as Nick the owner will open the food truck especially for us.

Dee Dee The Die Right Diva

She’s an elegant old chook who’s clearly lost a few feathers, but Dee Dee wants to age disgracefully and go out in a blaze of pink feathers, gold spandex and falsies (eyelashes and nails that is). Known as the ‘Poster Girl for Death and Dying’, it’s Dee Dee’s mission to have us feel so comfortable about the inevitable (unless you can afford Cryogenics) that we’re willing to take the time to get our affairs in order so we don’t leave a mess for someone else to clean up. Dee Dee’s stories are wild, unimaginable and very funny.

    Kevin Jacobsen

Kevin is acknowledged as one of the world’s most prominent entertainment entrepreneurs. Uniquely Kevin has been successful in every aspect of the live entertainment industry also enjoying success in recording industry, artist management, family and music driven television and venue and facilities management. Kevin has produced and presented first class events, concerts and theatre around the world including UK, across Europe, Asia, Asia Pacific, Japan, Africa and USA

    Luke Escombe

Luke Escombe is an ARIA-nominated songwriter, musician and comedian who loves using his creativity to get himself both into, and out of, trouble. He is the creator of "Chronic", a musical comedy show about living with chronic illness, and "The Vegetable Plot", a subversive children's band that makes fresh, funky music inspired by vegetables. Luke received his early musical education in London, where his father’s job in the rock and roll industry enabled him to see hundreds of legendary performances by artists like Freddie Mercury, Prince and Bruce Springsteen while he was just a boy. When he’s not channeling his inner rockstar, Luke is an ambassador for a number of health charities, a member of the NSW Arts Advisory Panel and a teaching artist with the Sydney Opera House's Creative Leadership in Learning Program. He believes strongly that music and storytelling can play a transformative role in health, education and society. Among his more obscure awards is the title of “Sydney’s Sexiest man voice”, which he won in a competition on a once-popular Sydney radio station.

    Brydie Wright

Trained in the 'Art of Speech', Brydie Wright's career in the creative industries spans twenty years, though it took motherhood and middle age to re-ignite her passion for storytelling. Presenter with Radio Northern Beaches, advocate for the Children's Book Council of Australia, Author, and budding Television Presenter, Brydie is a warm and relatable commentator on life's lessons; expecting the worst, ever hoping for the best.

    Mark Parrish

Mark lives locally in Fairlight.  He is a doctor who works with International SOS, a company that provides health services in challenging and remote parts of the world.  He has a background in the two navies, initially the Royal Navy in the UK and then the Royal Australian Navy, which has given him a host of stories.  He’s also a keen photographer and his son Tom, who has inherited this interest, spoke at our last Story Room.  ‘What could possibly go wrong?’ is one of his regular phrases, well known by his family and apt for this story of daring do in the Antarctic, involving a chicken carcase, a new feature on a maritime chart, Captain Cook, an Irish chaplain, a dinosaur fossil, English and Biology HSE and a Chinese laundryman.  What, indeed, could go wrong?’
