    Get to know The Storyteller's

Cheryl Kickett-Tucker, a children’s author and educator of the Wadjuk-Ballardong-Yued Noongar people, infuses her storytelling with cultural depth and heart. Her tales of identity, resilience, and community create a bridge to Aboriginal culture for young readers, sparking curiosity and connection. Alongside her writing, Cheryl champions Aboriginal perspectives in schools, enriching classrooms and inspiring authentic voices.

Meet Albert Pritchard, a Fremantle-based musician and music educator bridging local and global musical landscapes. As the principal songwriter for indie-rock project New Nausea, he collaborates with diverse musicians in Western Australia and beyond. Inspired by legends like Bob Dylan and Elliot Smith, Albert intricately weaves lyrics and melody, inviting listeners on a heartfelt journey of emotion and connection.

Gavin Aung Than is a New York Times bestselling author and illustrator who traded the corporate grind for his true passion: cartooning. After eight years in graphic design, he sold his house to pursue a creative path that led to the beloved Zen Pencils, the middle-grade graphic novel series Super Sidekicks, and the charming Baa Baa Black Belt picture book series.

Cath Fitz, an Occupational Therapist with 20+ years' experience, is a passionate advocate for nature as a gateway to wellbeing and creative learning. Raised in WA's country towns, she understands the magic of open skies and wild spaces, and today, she brings this passion to Western Australian children and families in every setting. Living on Whadjuk Nyoongar Boodja (Perth, WA), she weaves nature play into her work, sparking resilience, curiosity, and kindness in those she guides to reconnect with the world outside.

Storytellers Festival is a free community event made possible with the generous support of Lotterywest.
