Storytellers Residency: Gilgamesh
Description
Oral Storytelling at Moore and Moore Cafe
Welcome to Gilgamesh, as we continue the journey, bringing the art of traditional oral storytelling to a contemporary audience.
Evening begin in the beautiful Moore and Moore Cafe space where the cafe is open for dinner, cakes and drinks. The the performance space opens and your invited into receive a story told in the oral tradition, no notes no script no show just the rawness of the poetic language of the storytellers and the vivacity of your imagination.
In residency this month Will Wilson and Jeff Atkinson, bringing The Epic Of Gilgamesh to life.
The story of a young warrior king's grapple with the deepest questions of what it truly means to be human, as we navigate his unskillful lust for power, his search for immortality, the arrival of his wild twin, and journeys we may all have undertaken in our lives to explore the deeper questions of life.
Gilgamesh is one of the oldest recorded stories, carved into clay tablet and painstakingly translated, Jeff and Will will stay as true to the translations as two fellas from a literate mind can do, however they must be forgiven for getting lost in the underworld, for distractions at the hands of the gods and ripples of emotions, but despair not for there may be glimpses of eden along the way.
