Hear author Melanie Saward (Bigambul, Wakka Wakka) present a new story written in response to our current exhibition, Rainbow Serpent (Version).

A new Australian voice, her debut novel Burn was published this year to critical acclaim, and her second novel, Love Unleashed, will be published by Penguin Random House in 2024. Saward's writing has been published in Griffith Review, Meanjin, and Flock: First Nations Stories Then and Now alongside leading Aboriginal writers, and shortlisted for numerous awards.

Melanie Saward (Bigambul, Wakka Wakka) is a writer, editor, and academic based in Tulmur/Ipswich. Her debut novel Burn (2023) was published by Affirm Press and she has been published in Griffith Review, Meanjin, Overland, Kill Your Darlings, Flock: First Nations Stories Then and Now, and New Australian Fiction. In 2024, her first romantic comedy novel, Love Unleashed, will be published by Penguin Random House.
