STRANGE TASTES - with Battles Wines
Event description
Strange Tastes is returning on Wednesday 24th September, joined by one of our long time favourites, Battles Wines!
Single vineyard wines based from Margaret River and created by Lance Parkin & Kris Ambrozkiewicz with help from Richard Healy.
Kris, our local sommelier, wine distributor, and legendary vino vulture will be in the venue to pour and chat about Battles most recent releases.
Lance Parkin is the winemaking brains behind the WA label - Battles. Lance was formerly a senior winemaker at giant winery Houghton in the Swan Valley, before the sale of that winery in 2019, at which point he and many of his team decided to set up their own ventures.
Teaming up with long time friend Kris Ambrozkiewicz, they are making some of the most exciting wines coming out of WA at the moment.
Using fruit from across the Margaret River and Frankland River regions, Lance is crafting modern, hugely drinkable wines with real intrigue and interest.
Moderate alcohols, a focus on fruit and the delicate oak barrel - mean the wines are easy to enjoy in their youth, but the best of them show the stuffing and texture to really go the long haul. They describe their style as considered winemaking with a hands on approach, not shying away from different varietals and interesting blends.
The lads aims are to continuously work with left of centre styles, as well as exploring more classic varieties. The ethos? To create wines which reflect the great vineyards and regions in which they are grown
If you care about weird and wonderful local wine, you won't want to miss this!
