Roving acts, also known as roaming entertainment or strolling acts, are live performances that happen in an interactive and mobile manner. Unlike stage performances that are confined to a specific area, roving acts move through the crowd, engaging the audience on a personal level and creating memorable moments.

This workshop will introduce you to the fundamentals of roving entertainment. It will then progress to help develop characters using costumes owned by the City of Hobart to develop a routine that you will get the chance to perform as part of the 2024 festive season in Hobart (and you might even earn a little money doing it).

The workshop will include:

• character and back story development - "Who am I and why am I here?"
• understanding the use of space
• how to think on the move
• how to move and work together as a group
• how to incorporate improvised performance.

A member of the Youth ARC team may give you a call to confirm your attendance a few days prior to the workshop.
