Strengthening Your Resilience Muscle

Get in before winter and build psychological strength and resilience!

The Hawke’s Bay East Coast branch of CANZ invites you to join psychologist Jonathan Black for a conversation about how to stay well during difficult times.

Just as we’ve emerged from the worst of COVID, our region has been hit by Cyclone Gabrielle, with many lives and livelihoods affected by this natural disaster. Add your own personal challenges with work, family and friends, or finances, and you might be wondering how to maintain your professionalism as a celebrant when there are challenges all around you.

“Strengthening your resilience muscle” is designed to be an open conversation, as Jonathan explores issues celebrants like us might face; ways of supporting people who are grieving or under stress; and tips and techniques for keeping ourselves well, so we can thrive in difficult times.

As well as drawing on Jonathan’s expertise, we’d like to encourage you to bring your own ideas, and any useful resources. These may be articles, websites, books, or information about other associations or networks you’ve found valuable.

We’re extending the invitation to all celebrants in the region, whether you’re a member of CANZ or not. Join us at 10:00am for a cuppa, and after the session - if you have time – stay a little longer to debrief and network with others.

Our Guest: Jonathan Smith is a registered psychologist, sportsperson, and local business owner, operating out of Havelock North. Like us, he has been impacted by natural disasters, and is continuing to support many people in the region who have been directly affected by Cyclone Gabrielle. He brings a wealth of experience, and a genuine desire to share his thoughts, taking a holistic approach to thriving in difficult times.
