sTreTCH MUSIC
Event description
Inviting 1 and all to a night of music written by Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah and performed by Benjamin Oldham & Friends.
Christian Scott has an Afro-native American background and is the Chieftain of a specific group in New Orleans derived from a unique Afro-Indigenous cultural heritage rooted in the Maroon tradition.
Stretch music covers a broad range of styles and attitudes, spanning from the coast of West Africa, including Benin, Ghana, Guinea, and Senegal, and making its way into Mali. It covers multiple genres and continues to push the boundaries of ideas/conventions in an essentially ‘Jazz adjacent’ project.
Stretch Music is heavily characterised by its sextet instrumentation of Trumpet (with effects), Flute, Guitar, Keys, Drums, and Acoustic Bass, serving as a vital part of the sound's makeup.
Ben & the band members seek to inspire, excite and share in the re-creation of the multi-award-winning music for this one-time show in Brisbane!
