    Event description

Join us for a mesmerising music performance by candlelight within the magical surrounds of the Buckland Church as we 'Paint the Town Red' in honour of Dark Mofo and the winter solstice. Strings on Fire is Tasmania's leading and most versatile string quartet. Flooded in candlelight these talented musicians will take you on an enchanting sensory journey through 60 years of British hits - The Beatles | Queen | Bowie | Radiohead | Coldplay and more. Classically trained, the accomplished members of Strings on Fire have all played internationally and throughout Australia.  Friends of the Buckland Church (FOBC) feel incredibly fortunate to have secured this outstanding talent for our 'Paint the Town Red' fundraising event.

A June afternoon in Buckland can be cold, so don't forget to don your thermals and Tasmanian tuxedo (puffer jacket).  Please feel free to arrive from 4.15pm onwards to grab a hot drink, snack and a warm by one of the fire pots.  The concert will begin inside the church at 5pm and last for just over an hour.  You may also wish to BYO a cushion if you find your tush doesn't cope well with wooden pews.

Food on offer will include winter warming delights from Gert & Ted's Food Truck & Friends of the Buckland Church volunteers. Twamley Farm will be behind the bar with mulled wine to help warm your cockles. All proceeds go to the Friends of the Buckland Church Appeal Fund in their mission to bring the church back to life as the hub of the community.
