StrokeSafe Speakers Willagee Community Centre FREE
Description
Speaker: George Lopez
StrokeSafe Speakers are volunteers trained in public speaking and experienced in delivering life‑saving messages about stroke. Many have lived experience of stroke or a strong passion for educating their community. While they present information about stroke, they also draw on their own personal experiences - every talk is unique and memorable.
During the session, Speakers cover:
· What stroke is - What happens when someone is having a stroke and the different types of stroke.
· How to recognise the signs of stroke - Learn the vital F.A.S.T. signs of stroke.
· What to do during a stroke emergency - Knowing when to call triple zero (000).
· How to reduce your risk of stroke - Understand and reduce the risk of stroke.
Please note: Our volunteer Speakers are not qualified health professionals and are therefore not able to answer medically related questions. All medical questions should be directed to the individual’s healthcare team or our StrokeLine team.
The talk will run for 30 - 40 minutes followed by questions and answers with tea/coffee.
