Volunteer boards play a vital role in shaping the future of their organisations. Great governance is a skill that can be learned, developed, and strengthened. Whether you're new to a volunteer board or looking to strengthen your governance practice, this practical session will explore the foundations that help organisations thrive.

Together, we'll unpack the four pillars of effective governance and examine the key responsibilities, behaviours, and systems that support high-performing boards. You'll gain a clearer understanding of the board's role, how to focus on strategic governance rather than operational matters, and the practices that help volunteer organisations make better decisions and deliver greater impact.

Designed for volunteer directors, trustees, and those considering a governance role, this session will provide practical insights you can apply immediately in your organisation.

This session is a collaboration between Volunteer Wellington and The Institute of Directors in New Zealand.
