Event description

Former workshop title: Use a FeedbackFruits Peer Review

With FeedbackFruits Peer Review, students annotate and provide feedback on each other’s assignments. This improves students’ assignment skills, as well as their skills at giving, receiving and using constructive feedback.

Students can use FeedbackFruits Peer Review to annotate each other’s documents (like you do in SpeedGrader), as well as grade each other using the assignment rubric. If you like, this feedback can be anonymous. This workshop discusses the technology and pedagogy of how to configure and effectively run a FeedbackFruits Peer Review.

Giving and receiving feedback is a lifelong skill, used in most roles. A Peer Review assignment, when combined with appropriate guidance, is a powerful tool for growing these skills. Peer Reviews give students a good sense of how others are approaching the assignment, as well as different perspectives on how to improve. Peer Reviews can be used for both formative assignments and the drafts of summative assignments. Methods will be discussed to prevent any risk of plagiarism arising from these reviews.

Want students to evaluate how well their group members contributed to their team? If so, you'll need FeedbackFruits Group Member Evaluation, not FeedbackFruits Peer Review. We run a separate workshop for FeedbackFruits Group Member Evaluation.

Learning objectives

In this workshop, you will be supported to:

  • set up a FeedbackFruits Peer Review assignment, including rubrics

  • work through the marking process as a student and academic

  • explore the pedagogy around supporting students to effectively give and receive reviews.
