Studio Making Forum
Event description
Studio Making Forum
Friday 29 November: 10:00am-2:30pm
STUDIO MAKING brings together several artists, arts professionals and academics to discuss the act of making a studio and making in the studio. This day of talks is hosted at John Curtin Gallery alongside three exhibitions where the context of studio-based practice plays a major role: Brett Whiteley’s Surry Hills studio on tour, a selection of works from Aida Tomescu and a ten-year retrospective of the John Stringer Prize.
Speakers will draw parallels between the exhibitions and their own work in establishing studio spaces for other artists, or in the value of making art in a dedicated studio space. Discussions will unfold in two parts: a morning session – In Context, focusing on the management of studios – and an afternoon session – In Practice, a panel of artists talking to their studio practices.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
