Su-a Lee and Hamish Napier in concert
Event description
Su-a Lee and Hamish Napier are very busy musicians and it's not that often that they find the gaps in their schedules to play together. We are delighted that they have chosen to play in Portobello for what promises to be a wonderful and special musical experience!
Su-a Lee is one of Scotland's most versatile, adventurous and charismatic cellists. She has been a member of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra for 31 years, so she comes from classical background but has worked with some rock legends such as Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce. Over the years Su-a has also become very involved in the Trad music scene and collaborated with many of its biggest names.
Hamish Napier is a pianist, flautist, singer and accomplished composer who is inspired by the heritage and nature of his native landscape of Strathspey. Hamish has collaborated with many of the leading artists in the Trad scene, such as Duncan Chisholm, Donald Shaw, Ross Ainslie, Julie Fowlis and many more.
For this very special show Su-a and Hamish Napier will both draw from their musical backgrounds, creating a unique concert.
As well as being wonderful musicians, Su-a and Hamish will share insights about where the music comes from. They have a wonderful warmth and stage presence and you'll no doubt enjoy a few laughs with them.
In 2022 Su-a released her first 'solo' album. However this wasn't a solo project as she invited some of her best musical friends to participate in a series of stunning duets, hence the title Dialogues. See link below to a lovely short film (15 mins) about this Dialogues album.

Hamish is midway through his "Strathspey Pentalogy", a 10 year project to produce 5 landscape inspired albums. The third album entitled "The Woods" was awarded Album of the Year in the Scots Trad Music Awards.
