    Event description

    SUDS Presents: Behind Closed Doors

    10th April, 12th April & 13th April 2024

    7PM

    The Cellar Theatre

What goes on behind closed doors? A secret relationship? Finding the secret ingredient to your neighbour's best recipe? Obsessive fixations? Finally psychoanalysing your enemies? An argument over your girlfriend’s mum being a vampire?

Slot 3 is our annual show for SUDS newbies, giving them the chance to experience acting or production roles in a low-stakes, supported environment. Each of our original short plays has been written by a talented SUDS member, and directed by those looking to cultivate new talent in our society. We are super proud of our amazing debutants, whose reflections on the theme ‘behind closed doors’ warm our hearts, make us laugh, and challenge us to think. Every night is a different collection of shows, and we encourage you to come and see all of them!

Content Warning: The pieces in Behind Closed Doors may include violence, sexual references, coarse language, religious imagery, and references to death and suicide.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

SUDS acknowledges that the University of Sydney and the Cellar Theatre reside on stolen land; the land of the Gadigal people of the Eora nation. As a society that exists to tell stories, it is important to acknowledge that stories were being told on this land for thousands of years before British colonisation. Sovereignty was never ceded – Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land.
