“This is the part of the story where we first meet”

“Indian princess”

“Chinese cleaner”

At its heart, Rice is a beautiful depiction of the immigrant story. Nisha, the Executive Officer of an Australian rice company, is working on closing an important deal with the Indian government, while Yvette, a cleaner, is clearing up Nisha’s takeaway.

The two women are from different cultures and different generations and yet forge a powerful, complex, and somewhat unlikely friendship. Despite their vastly different life experiences, as time wears on, they discover ties that bind them together and help each other navigate through the complexities of their lives.
