“If they heard us talking, people'd think we were mad.”

“Maybe we are. Or else everyone else is.”

The Year My Voice Broke is raw, bittersweet, and at moments dark. It is a portrait of the joys and woes of teenage life in 1960s rural New South Wales.

Originally written as a film by John Duigan in the 80s, this is a coming of age tale of adolescent love. It follows the three central characters as they stumble through a year of high school under the scrutiny of their conservative small town, the repressive control of their parents, and their own simple yet consequential mistakes.
