SUDS Presents: William Shakespeare’s JULIUS CAESAR

ABOUT THE SHOW:

Half a millennium has passed since the Roman Republic’s founding murder of the last king of Rome, and the most powerful man in the western world has just arrived home to parade his victories in a Rome now sewn with dissent; some would have him crowned like the kings of old, while others would rather him dead than see another king in Rome. Both Caesar’s ascension, and a murderous plot materialise in an upheaval mirrored by the very gods sending storms of fire and gliding ghosts. But the story doesn’t end with Caesar’s death, that was only half the battle; a battle whose history will quickly remind us is written by its victors.

CONTENT WARNINGS:

Onstage violence, depictions of murder and suicide, sexism, fake blood, weapons, intense flashing/strobing lights, loud noises, theatrical haze, and herbal cigarettes

Runtime:

2.5 hours with a 15 minute interval. Doors open 6:50pm for a 7pm start.

SUDS’ Julius Caesar contains a section of immersive standing theatre to begin its second half after the intermission.
