Sue Ferrers Quintet on the Mountain
Description
Sue Ferrers plays the hauntingly beautiful but rare Swedish nyckelharpa, or keyed-fiddle, an instrument dating back to the Middle Ages, the only performer in Australia solely for this instrument. She learned and honed the craft of playing nyckelharpa while living in Germany where she worked as a freelance musician, playing everything from intimate concerts in church settings to Gothic Rock in sold-out stadiums. Back in Queensland, Sue has been a Finalist in the Australian Folk Music Awards for Instrumentalist of the Year, Queensland Music Awards in the World Music category and the Gold Cost Music Awards as Musician of the Year.
She joins forces with former Natives of Bedlam guitarist Evan Clarry, double bass virtuoso Bob Harley (Funky Miracle, Sunset Junk), the spellbinding harpist Nicole Tate, and master percussionist David Kemp to create a rich, intoxicating fusion of world folk sounds. Together, they weave a sonic journey that sweeps you across distant lands and forgotten eras—like stepping onto a magic carpet bound for the extraordinary. It’s a performance that stirs the soul, ignites the senses, and gets your feet moving—utterly captivating and impossible to resist.
