Indigenous Data Sovereignty

In a world where data are considered facts and Indigenous people are often left out of the count. Does your data literacy include a lens on Indigenous people and why is this important? Alex will share a mix of work experience and life experience to provoke an important conversation on measuring Indigenous peoples.

About Alexandra Hohoi

Alexandra Hohoi is proudly from the Komet Tribe of Mer. She was raised in Far North Queensland and has lived and worked all over the country. She is an experienced Indigenous data policy advisor leading our data policy work, and has recently been working on the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. Prior to her work focusing on the implementation of Priority Reform 4, Alex worked with Native Title Holders and applicants on Indigenous governance, capacity building and ORIC compliance. She has worked with and for communities across the country, striving for self-determination. Alex’s interests in Indigenous Governance and Indigenous Data intersect with her passion for Indigenous Data Governance and Indigenous Data Sovereignty.
