Calling all Afro and Dancehall lovers for a special three-hour SUMMA DANCE workshop in Sydney!

Join founder of Burn City Queenz and Director of Jungle City Projects, Kitty Kat, Melbourne-based teacher and performer highly specialised in Afro Dance and Dancehall, Lee, and one of Jamaica's top international dance instructor and choreographer Chuby Dice from the famous Black Dice Team.

Each workshop style will focus on students learning about the rich history and culture of that respective style.

We aim to provide an environment that is positive and open to all levels of experience.

TEACHER BIOGRAPHIES

KITTY CAT
Kitty Cat is the founder of many initiatives that helped grow the Australian Dancehall community over the past 12 years and has brought Jamaica Dance pioneers such as Latonya Style, Craig Black Eagles, Kimiko Versatile, and Zidan X-Qlusiv to Australia and taking over 30 Australian dancers to Jamaica to experience authentic Dancehall first hand. She was the first Australian in history to enter the International Dancehall Queen competition in 2014, and in 2015 placed top 10 in the competition. She is a certified Stylish Moves instructor and has been sharing her knowledge of Dancehall as a teacher and performer in Melbourne and across Australia since 2009 - travelling to Jamaica over seven times to learn first hand from the creators and always ensuring her approach to teaching and performing is practiced with respect and gratitude to the roots, culture and creators. She is the founding member of Burncity Queenz and director of Jungle City projects. You can follow her @kitty_cat_bcq


CHUBY DICE
Chuby Dice is one of the top dancers in Jamaica and leader of Jamaican dancehall crew Black Dice. He featured on the big screen in films including ‘Intent 2’ and ‘King of the Dancehall’ directed by Nick Cannon, and music videos for top artists including Vybz Kartel, Busta Rymes, Shawn Storm and Australian producer Monkey Marc. His team Black Dice have gained much street cred and global recognition over the past few years for bringing the fire back to Jamaican Dancehall street parties with their pyrotechnic displays, and creation of popular party steps such as ‘Falla Fashi’, ‘Move a Foot’, 'Grung Lizard' and 'Tek Piiece A It'.

In Australia, Chuby has performed at festivals including MONA FOMA, St Kilda Festival and Moomba, supported international touring artists such as Konshens, and judged the Australian Dancehall King and Queen competition. As a highly knowledgeable and sought after dance instructor he has delivered workshops in Melbourne, Perth, Canberra and of course back home in Jamaica with students traveling from all over the world to learn authentic Jamaican dance from the source.

Chuby Dice is now based in Australia and available for live performances, video & film projects, dance workshops, lectures, competition judging, and promotional work worldwide.


LEE
Lerato aka Lee is a Melbourne based, Zimbabwean born performer and dance teacher.

Lerato specialises in Afro Dance and Dancehall which has allowed her to support and work with a range of artists in Australia and from around the world. Artists including Sampa The Great, Baker Boy, Rema, Kidi and more. Lerato has continued to build her skills as an Afro Dance performer and teacher which has helped her stay connected to her culture as well as being able to share her knowledge and passion with others.

Lerato is also part of professional dancehall crew ‘BurnCity Queenz’ which is where she began to grow her career as a performer, teacher through Jungle City Projects and has gone on to do individual works as well. Lerato competed and was crowned Dancehall Queen Australia 2016 which allowed her to travel to Jamaica, where she learnt directly from the creators of the style.
