Thu, 3 Dec, 10am - 1pm AEDT

Join us to explore the beautiful Kettering Point track

This seasonal walk is designed for Kingborough residents aged 60 and over who do not regularly engage in nature-based activities and would like the opportunity to do so in a welcoming and supportive environment. We hope to introduce you to new reserves and trails through this program and encourage new friendships and connections.

Join us for a guided walk along the picturesque Kettering Point Track, where stunning views across the D'Entrecasteaux Channel to Bruny Island are a constant companion. Winding through coastal bushland of peppermint and blue gums, beneath casuarina forest and surrounded by seasonal wildflowers, this walk offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature and others.

Led by BJ from Kingborough Council's Natural Areas and Biodiversity team, this is an easy walk suitable for most abilities. The gravel track is mostly flat, with only minor undulations, and there will be regular stops to learn about local flora and fauna while enjoying conversation in a friendly and supportive environment.

  • What to expect: Approximately 1.8 km return on a mostly flat gravel track with no steps and only very minor undulations. There are several seats along the way for rest stops and to take in the views.

  • Duration: Approximately 2-3 hours at a relaxed pace, including frequent stops to learn about local flora and fauna, plus a stop for a cuppa, snack and conversation.

  • Map & parking: Details will be provided upon booking. Toilet facilities are available at Trial Bay boat ramp carpark.

  • What to bring: Sturdy shoes, water, walking sticks if helpful for stability, binoculars (optional), and a lightweight foldable chair if standing for extended periods is challenging.
