Join us at Sir Peter Blake Marine Education and Recreation Centre (MERC) this summer for ActivAsian's Introduction to Outdoor Recreation for Rangatahi
This Summer Series is an 8-week course delivered in partnership with Harbour Sport
The Summer Series is an 8-week engagement for young people from Asian communities. The programme will introduce the young participants to a variety of activities on the Moana (water) and Whenua (land). It will be held in the summer evenings after school from 4:30-6:00 pm at Sir Peter Blake Marine Education and Recreation Centre, located at 1045 Beach Road, Long Bay.
Over the course period, participants will engage in a range of activities based at MERC with a final festival evening. The evening will be an opportunity for young people to encourage parents to have a go at the activities and to connect with future opportunities to continue their involvement with activities of their choice.
Registration is $45 per participant for youth aged between 5-10 years and includes:
- 8 X 1.5hr activity sessions, starting Feb 2nd 2023
- A family celebration evening to conclude the program on March 23rd 2023
- Sessions are a mix of multi activity introductory sessions – Sailing, Kayaking, Paddle Boarding & much more
The MERC facility offers a variety of recreational activities to suit all weather and sea conditions. They lead watersports such as Surfing, Body Boarding, Kayaking, Canoeing, Sailing, Paddle Boarding and Snorkeling, as well as land activities such as Archery, Orienteering, Climbing, and Mountain Biking.
