The Hopetoun IGA Big Summer Splash and a free sausage sizzle!

Please note, children must be accompanied by a swimming adult to attend.

While this event is free to attend, we encourage everyone to register through Humanitix to help us plan catering for the free sausage sizzle and ensure a great experience for all!

WARNING TO SWIMMERS – PARTICIPATE AT YOUR OWN RISK

1. 1. Your participation in any swimming events (“an Event”) hosted by Hopey Swim and the Hopetoun Progress Association is AT YOUR OWN RISK. Hopey Swim and the Hopetoun Progress Association take no responsibility for your safety or health during any event in which you participate.
2. 2. You must be a competent swimmer in reasonable health and fitness to participate in an Event.
3. 3. Any person under the influence of or affected by alcohol, drugs, medication of other substances MUST NOT participate in an Event.
4. 4. Open water swimming can be a dangerous recreational activity. Each such activity has obvious risks and particular risks of harm, including but not limited to:
5. a. Drowning;
6. b. Shark attack or injury from other dangerous marine life;
7. c. You may be allergic to stingers, blue bottles, etc;
8. d. Strong wind and dangerous water conditions can cause injury/loss of life;
9. e. Collision or physical contact with other swimmers, buoys or other objects can cause injury;
10. f. You could suffer a heart attack, epileptic fit, collapse, severe cramp etc;
11. g. Submerged rocks or other hidden objects can cause injury

By registering to participate in an Event or by registering a Minor on their behalf to participate in an Event, you are confirming:

1. 1. You have read and accept the conditions set out in the WARNING TO SWIMMERS – PARTICIPATE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
2. 2. The Minor for whom you are legally responsible is aware of and accepts the conditions set out in WARNING TO SWIMMERS – PARTICIPATE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
3. 3. You acknowledge that each Event involves a range of risks (not limited to the risks identified by Hopey Swim and the Hopetoun Progress Association), including the risk of serious personal injury to me or the Minor for whom I am legally responsible and that each Event could not be held unless all participants are willing to accept full responsibility for the consequences of these risks.
4. 4. You waive, release and discharge Hopey Swim and the Hopetoun Progress Association (collectively the “the Releasees”) from all claims for personal injury or death (“Claims”) and demands whatsoever, including any Claim:
5. a. Arising from the negligence of any of the Releasees during the conduct or otherwise of any Event (including failure to warn of any particular risk); and
6. b. Arising from any act or omission before, during or after an Event.
