SUMS 64th Lambie Dew Oration
Event description
The Lambie - Dew Oration is an annual event held since 1958 in honour of Charles Lambie and Harold Dew, the first Bosch Chairs of Medicine and Surgery, respectively. The oration is the opportunity for SUMS to invite someone who has made a major impact in health to address the student body, faculty and alumni.
This year, we are proud to announce that the 64th Lambie Dew Oration will be delivered by Professor Georgina Long AO on Courageous Medicine: From Evidence Users to Evidence Creators.
Professor Long is the Medical Director of Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA), and Chair of Melanoma Medical Oncology and Translational Research at MIA and The University of Sydney. Her groundbreaking work in immuno-oncology and targeted therapies in melanoma research has led to her being named the 2024 Australian of the Year alongside Professor Richard Scolyer. Professor Long’s work embodies the values we strive to emulate as students: excellence in research, compassionate care and bold, translational science.
The event takes place in the formal surroundings of the Great Hall, with food and refreshments provided before the event in the Great Hall Ante Room.
