Sun Cycle is a festival built for the community. Whether you’re a seasoned attendee or a passionate newcomer, we want you to leave your inhibitions at the gate, and step into the celebrated bike track with a newfound freedom of expression. To aid you in this quest we’ve considered representation, inclusivity and accessibility as paramount tenants that are reflected in every aspect of the festival from infrastructure to programming. This NYD you are blessed with a safer space to surrender yourself to the dance.
The land on which Sun Cycle Festival takes place is that of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Peoples of the Kulin Nation. We pay our utmost respect to elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge the continual connection the Traditional Custodians have to the trees, plants, creeks, and land in Naarm and surrounding areas. Sun-Cycle Festival recognises that the foundations of the Coburg Velodrome site is on land that holds spiritual importance and connects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to their ancestors and their future kin. We understand the importance of respecting this connection to country and we acknowledge the past and stand with our First Nations’ Peoples for the future.
Here in Naarm and across the continent - the land always was and always will be held in custodianship by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples - Sovereignty was never ceded.
