The Progressive Christianity Network and Social Issues Group of the Effective Living Centre are collaborating to address the growing reality of homelessness in our community. A panel of presenters who engage with homeless people will speak of the services they provide, and of the current and changing ‘face’ of homelessness. There will be opportunity to ask questions and clarify any matters of interest or concern on this topic.

Forum panellists will include:

Tameka Thompson (Hutt St Centre) - Tameka completed a Social Work degree at UniSA in 2014 and began working at the Hutt Street Centre, where she now manages the Aspire Program, leading South Australia’s first social impact bond and Australia’s first homelessness specific social impact bond. Last year, Tameka completed the Governor’s Leadership Foundation program, and was named as one of SA’s 40 under 40 top leaders by Indaily. She walks alongside some of the state’s most vulnerable people, supporting them to make significant changes in their live.
Tanya Roylance (Orange Sky) - Tanya is one of Orange Sky’s long-term volunteers in Adelaide. She is a team leader at the Wednesday shift in Elizabeth, and is a passionate advocate for the services provided. Tanya will be discussing the work Orange Sky does within the community, and how it uses the power of conversation to establish connection with friends. Orange Sky is not just a laundry service, and it is not uncommon to have regular friends who just come along to a shift to chat. Tanya will also mention the changes seen in the data between the 2016 and 2021 homelessness census, and how that is helping shape the future of Orange Sky services.
Darryl Schintler (Fred's Van) - Darryl has volunteered on Fred’s Van for nearly 30 years and, until recently, was their Principal Volunteer.
