Welcome to the Sunday Salon: Work-In-Progress Readings. A cosy evening of new work, with readings by a new lineup every month.

In November our readers are:

Tracy Crisp's latest book Pearls: Memoir Strands was recently launched by publisher Pink Shorts Press. Pearls is based on the stories of her six solo monologues which she has been writing, performing and producing since 2018. Tracy has previously published two novels, Black Dust Dancing and Surrogate with Wakefield Press. She will be sharing the latest instalment of her telephone soap opera, Hey Babe! It's Me! which will be launched at the 2027 Adelaide Fringe.

Maggie McGinty is a Glaswegian writer living in Adelaide.

Her fiction is preoccupied with women, especially older women who are ready to blossom just when the world is ready to make them invisible. She is drawn to characters who refuse to be just one thing and who will happily hold opposing truths with ease if it means they survive.

Maggie has spent 27 years in Adelaide's theatre and comedy scene as writer, producer, performer, director and dramaturg, and worked for 11 years as a reviewer for Adelaide Theatre Guide. She is also a marriage celebrant, and she has a short attention span.

Her debut novel, Tree Bird Fish Bell, is set in Glasgow, woven through with the city's ancient mythology and the question of whether second chances can redeem us, and the people and places we touch. Her second novel, Who I Used To Be, follows an Australian television legend whose past reaches back across two continents to a secret kept for forty years.

Shaine Melrose is a writer, poet and gardener, living and resting on Kaurna Yerta. Shaine's work has been published in numerous anthologies and journals, Shaine’s award winning work explores the natural world, chronic illness, and the queer-self.

Tracey O'Callaghan (The Queen of Sass) is a spoken word poet/story teller, a SA State Slam Poetry finalist from 2018-2022 and a National Slam finalist 2021-2022 performing at Sydney Opera House. A guest on the stage for “Hear me Roar” at Adelaide Writers Week 2022-2023. A feature poet for spoken word events around Adelaide. Stepping on stages internationally in Dublin, Longford and Limerick, giving the Irish a taste of what an Aussie girl can bring to the stage. Author of her poetry collection “Brains Balls & Banter”

Caroline Reid found her feet as a writer in theatre and has since developed a diverse writing and performance practice.

Her work has been awarded numerous prizes including the International Mslexia Poetry Prize for Women and second prize in the Poetry Book Awards (UK) for SIARAD, a collection of poetry and prose. She has twice represented South Australia in the Australian Poetry Slam at the Sydney Opera House.

Caroline is currently working on her second book ROOM 1824, mapping the story of her mother’s death during the Covid pandemic.

Someone once described her work as a mash-up of internet searches, fucked-up secrets and heartbreaking lies. Story, dark humour and a whiff of rage are at the heart of all her art. www.carolinereidwrites.com
