Description

Sunday Serenity – Join A Community that expands, supports & lifts you up!

Community Breathwork & Meditation | Brighton Beach, QLD

Sunday Serenity is a free, established community gathering, founded 3 yrs ago by Kelly Bagshaw a certified Breathwork Facilitator, Psychotherapist and Holistic Coach. It has been running weekly ever since.

Sunday Serenity began as a space to practise breathwork and meet like-minded people and overtime, it has evolved into a more formally facilitated breathwork and meditation space — while keeping the relaxed, welcoming community feel it began with.

A space intentionally created with families in mind

After attending many breathwork, meditation and wellbeing events, Kelly noticed that the people in these spaces often seemed to be either younger and pre-kids, or older and without dependent children.

But parents need these spaces too.

So Sunday Serenity was created as an intentionally family friendly space,  where you can bring your children (or not) without worrying about whether they will sit still, stay quiet or participate.

There is no expectation for children to do any of those things, the beachside location provides the perfect natural environment for curiosity, creativity, play, building independence and adventure, all whilse the adults model taking time for themselves to turn inward, reconnect with themselves, learn the power of breath and centre themselves for the day — and the week — ahead.

This does not mean you have to be a parent or attend with kids, you absolutely do not need to have children to come.

Many people attend without kids and have commented that the natural curiosity and playfulness children bring actually adds something special to the experience — a little reminder of our own capacity for play, freedom and being fully present.

For parents, there’s another reminder here too:

The conditions don’t have to be perfect for you to take time for yourself.

Your children don’t have to be completely settled. Life doesn’t have to be quiet. You don’t have to wait until everyone else is taken care of or there are no interuptions.

Sometimes you can simply take your place on your mat, breathe, and let the children be for a while.

New to breathwork or meditation?

You don’t need to know how to meditate, have any experience with breathwork, or even consider yourself particularly “good” at slowing down.

Breathwork simply means intentionally changing or bringing awareness to the way we breathe. Different breathing patterns can influence how we feel physically and emotionally — helping us shift out of the busyness of our minds, connect more deeply with our bodies and create a little more space between ourselves and everything competing for our attention.

At Sunday Serenity, the breathwork is gentle, accessible and guided throughout. Kelly will explain the breathing practice before you begin, so there’s nothing you need to learn beforehand.

A typical Sunday session includes:

15–20 minutes of guided breathwork, using simple breathing practices to help you arrive in your body, regulate your nervous system and create a sense of presence.

This is followed by a 10–15 minute guided meditation, giving you time to become still, integrate the breathwork and turn your attention inward.

The whole practice is intentionally short and achievable. You don’t need an hour of silence, a perfectly calm mind or years of meditation experience to benefit from taking a little time to pause and reconnect.

Some weeks may feel peaceful and grounding. Other weeks your mind might wander, your children might interrupt you, you might feel restless, emotional or distracted.

That’s all welcome too.

The practice isn’t about getting it “right.” It’s about creating a regular moment in your week to come back to yourself — one breath at a time.

A community-held space

As Sunday Serenity has grown, it has become more than a class facilitated by one person — it has become a genuine community.

Kelly facilitates the 1st and last Sunday of each month, with the 2nd and 3rd Sundays being held by members of the community, utilising a breathwork recording of sharing their own gifts in meditation or breathwork

We would love to see this community continue to grow and reach more people who could benefit from having a regular space to pause, breathe and connect.

Come and join us

🌊 Every Sunday – Brighton Beach, Brighton QLD 4017
📍 Meet on the grass by the beach, between 18th & 19th Avenues
☀️ Summer: 6:30am
❄️ Winter: 7:00am

Please bring your own yoga mat or towel to sit or lie on. We are completely exposed to the elements, so in summer please bring a hat, sunscreen and anything else you need to be comfortable outdoors.

Children are very welcome — with no expectation that they participate, sit still or stay quiet.

Even though the sessions are free, Registration is still required,  so we know roughly how many people to expect and can prepare the space accordingly.

We also have a Sunday Serenity Facebook community where we share weekly updates, weather changes and information about upcoming sessions.

Come alone. Bring a friend. Bring your children.

Bring whatever kind of week you’ve had.

Take your place on the grass, breathe with us, and start the week connected and grounded with yourself and your breath.

Big Love

Kel
