Sundays with Wit - Acting Through Song with Claire Burns
Event description
ABOUT THE EVENT
Acting Through Song – Elevate your performance beyond just hitting the right notes!
This dynamic workshop is designed for singers and actors who want to bring their songs to life with emotion, depth, and storytelling. Through expert guidance, you’ll explore techniques to connect the music to the characters’ objectives, enhance your stage presence, and ensure your performance captivates an audience. Whether you're preparing for auditions, performances, or just looking to refine your skills, this session will equip you with essential tips and pointers to make every song you sing a compelling story.
The workshop will cover:
- A fun and engaging group warm up covering pitch, breath work and expression.
- Workshopping each song and exploring different techniques to ensure clear characterisation and story telling of each piece
- Mini performances and feedback on each song.
DETAILS
- Participants will need to prepare a storytelling song of your choice before the workshop. It does not need to be a musical theatre song.
- These songs will be performed and worked on during the session.
ABOUT THE COACH
Claire is originally from Ireland and has been singing and acting from the age of 6. She is a trained vocalist and holds an ALCM diploma in Musical Theatre singing. Claire moved to London and trained as an actor at Italia Conti Theatre Academy, London, graduating in 2013 with a BA (Hons) Degree in Acting. She has a wealth of experience singing in a range of different genres as well as acting and performing in various different shows internationally. Acting through song is a skill that Claire has had to work on repeatedly throughout her career and is something that she feels she has had to use continuously in her line of work. She loves telling stories through song and loves working with others in regard to fine tuning and exploring this skill further.
