BENJI AND THE SALT WATER SOUND SYSTEM
Benji And The Saltwater Sound System fuse Pacific flavours with the raw rolling sounds of the Australian Pacific coast. Add to this poignant lyrics and a will to transcend genre and you are part the way there. The band has graced some of the most iconic stages of the country.
Like all of the greatest live acts, their sound is ever revolving – responding to the audience and the room, taking bold new turns and venturing into new territory. It was this willingness to grow and develop that led to the band’s infectious debut album, Coming Up For Water, featuring much loved live favourite Top Bunk Trait – garnished in sweet guitar licks and feet-pounding horns.

It takes courage to leave a successful career and reinvent yourself… to start afresh. But Robyn Martin isn’t your average axe-slinger. An in-demand session musician who rose to the top of the tree with her former trio The New Graces, that band’s debut album, Seasons, would go onto hit #1 on the ARIA Australian Country Album chart, and be nominated for four Golden Guitar Awards in 2021.Â
The title track, Seasons – penned by Martin – went on to be announced a finalist in the International Songwriting Awards 2021.But rather than take the path well-travelled, Robyn had other daring plans. The launch of a solo career finds the Candelo local working with producer David Ross Macdonald on a debut album that will be set loose into the world in the months ahead.
With a sound that is distinctly Australian, Martin’s music traverses a terrain as wide as the country itself: from deep pocket soul through ethereal folk and full-blown banjo barnstorms, with a sprinkle of grungy angst rock. Get a healthy dose of south coast country soul with the region’s finest.
