Sunset Shabbat & Sukkot: A Tween Family Evening
Event description
Just like the cozy feeling of pizza night or bundling up for an autumn bonfire, Sukkot and Shabbat invite families to pause and enjoy the warmth of loved ones, good food, and connection. Bring the whole family to join other interfaith families for an evening that blends these familiar moments with the magic of Shabbat (a weekly Jewish holiday of rest) and Sukkot (the fall harvest festival of gratitude).
As the sun sets over the lake, we’ll gather by our pop-up sukkah, a symbol of shelter and thanks. Your tweens and little ones will explore the lulav and etrog (The Four Species items used in a special Sukkot ritual with branches and citrus), learn the blessings, and enjoy stories and music by the fire—with hot cocoa and pizza in hand. Whether you’re discovering these customs or building on past experiences, this night is all about family, celebration, and belonging.
Registration is free and will open until Thursday, October 17, at 2 p.m. If you would like to sign up after that date, please email Erin Gabay at egabay@jecc.org.
