    Event description

The Sunshine Coat is a multi-layered SLOW fashion and photography exhibition that sees the development and presentation of new arts and cultural works directed by Queensland artists Shaye Hardisty and Ketakii Jewson-Brown, with assistance from Nambour organisations and community. The intention of the exhibition is to share visual stories and aesthetics unique to the climate and culture of Namba/ Nambour through a collection of coats and an accompanying photographic essay. There is a strong focus on sustainable fashion, with the production of the coats utilising materials such as second-hand fabrics, salvaged waste and recycled/ organic cotton.

This event will see local sustainable and slow fashion advocates including Louise Visser from Sinerji Organics, Amanda Knights from Sunshine Coast Tafe, Karina Seljak from Seljak Blankets, Somar Xavier from Sapling Textiles and Pete Trimble from Pete Sews come together in a panel like discussion moderated by Deborah Fisher from the University of The Sunshine Coast.

This event is proudly supported by Peppermint magazine who will be gifting a magazine to each attendee as well as lucky door prizes including a year's subscription to Peppermint Magazine.

Light refreshments will be provided and there will be a bar open for drink purchases.
