Superannuation in the creative industries

Following the release of Creative Workplaces' expanded guidance on superannuation, we’re inviting local creatives, arts workers and organisations to join us for an informal conversation about superannuation in the creative industries, hosted by the City of Fremantle.

Superannuation can be complex, particularly when creative work involves a mix of employment, contracting, short-term projects and different payment arrangements.

Together, we’ll explore:

·       Rights and responsibilities for creatives and organisations

·       How superannuation applies across different creative work arrangements, including independent contracting

·       Common misconceptions and areas of confusion

·       Practical examples and approaches to navigating superannuation obligations

·       Where to find trusted information, guidance and support

The session is designed to be practical and conversational, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and discuss the kinds of situations that arise in creative work. 

Whether you're an independent creative, an employer, or part of an arts organisation, you'll leave with practical knowledge and trusted resources to navigate superannuation obligations in the creative industries.

The conversation will be facilitated by Kate Schaffner, Director Creative Workplaces, with Kylie Thompson, Sorrento Strategic Accounting, and Bonnie Davies, Creative Director The Gelo Company sharing their experience and perspective.
