Research doesn't always happen on campus. Many HDR students spend significant amounts of time undertaking field research or on exchange with another university. Some students aren't on campus because they're balancing other commitments: currently, about 20% of UTS's research students study part-time. And with UTS's new PhD by distance mode, some research students might never come to campus at all.

This workshop focuses on strategies to support research students who are studying part-time or from a distance. Topics under consideration include:

establishing regular channels of communication
maintaining progress and project management
supporting intellectual development and wellbeing through community-building
