Supervision for Professional Counselors in Tennessee: Ethical, Legal, and Practice Issues

This CE webinar is designed for those who supervise post-master’s counselors or practicum students/interns in professional counseling programs. There is an interactive component* to this webinar.

This training focuses primarily on ethical, legal, and practice issues pertaining to the General Rules for Professional Counselors and the ACA Code of Ethics. However, other relevant standards and guidelines are also discussed (e.g., from CACREP & ACES) as well as operational issues (e.g., policies & procedures) and more. Supervision-related scenarios will also be explored through group discussion of ethical/legal vignettes.

Continuing education credit

This seminar provides 3.0 NBCC-approved CE hours through Lipscomb University’s CACREP-accredited M.S. program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Continuing education rules vary among license types and change periodically. Participants should always check the specifics of their continuing education requirements found in their respective Tennessee licensing rules.

Process for webinar CE credits:

As evidence of attendance, a 20-item multiple choice CE quiz must be completed and emailed to Rencounselingtn@gmail.com after the conclusion of the webinar along with the course evaluation form. A passing score is 14+ out of 20 total items. Assuming a passing score, a reply email will be sent with the attached CE certificate. (Please allow a few days.) Be aware that CE certificates must bear the date that the quiz was received at Rencounselingtn@gmail.com. It is recommended that participants send their completed quiz and course evaluation as soon as possible after the webinar concludes. The quiz may be repeated if necessary.

Terry Casey, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist, HSP conducts a variety of continuing education webinars/seminars for counseling and mental health professionals across the country. Dr. Casey has a private consulting practice in Franklin, Tennessee. For the past sixteen years, he has taught Ethical and Professional Issues in Counseling in Lipscomb University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. He also served for many years as the Clinical Director for a long-standing non-profit based in Nashville and was Ethics Chair for TLPCA (Tennessee Licensed Professional Counselors Association) for several years.
