Support Refugee Inclusion on Campus - Student Welcome Group Info Session

Murdoch University will be welcoming two refugee students in Semester 1, 2027.

As part of the Refugee Student Settlement Pathway (RSSP) in Australia, we will be establishing a Student Welcome Group (SWG).

Based on the principles of community sponsorship, the SWG is made up of student and staff volunteers who work together to provide a warm and supportive welcome to our new students on arrival.

The SWG assists with settlement activities, including airport pickup, Centrelink registration, setting up a phone/SIM, opening a bank account, as well as campus orientation and building social connections.

We will be hosting this information session to learn more about the SWG program and how volunteers can best support students participating in the RSSP.

The SWG opportunity offers something truly special for our RSSP students, but it is also incredibly rewarding for volunteers. It provides a chance to broaden perspectives, build meaningful connections, and offer the kind of welcome that many students say they wish they had received when they first arrived.
