Event description

This workshop will assist you to understand, support and engage with learners who are Autistic. Autism is a lifelong developmental condition that affects how people behave and interact with the world around them. People with autism will all have different experiences and need different levels of support. Along with some challenges, a person with autism will also have a range of strengths.

Through this workshop, you will:

  • Become familiar with and use neuro-affirming language, including first language use
  • Increase your awareness and gain knowledge of autistic characteristics, and the diversity of presentation in adult learners
  • Apply communication techniques and teaching strategies tailored to the strengths and needs of Autistic adult learners
  • Develop strategies to create supportive and inclusive learning environments and accommodate the sensory and social needs of Autistic learners.
