With Wendy Stout, Registered Nurse & Nurse Educator

Looking for practical information and strategies to support the bowel health of an adult family member or someone you care for?

Join us for an informative and supportive workshop with Wendy Stout, who works with many of our members and families, providing health education, preventative health support and guidance around a range of health needs.

In this workshop, Wendy will share practical tips and information about:

• Supporting healthy bowel habits
• Recognising and responding to bowel health concerns
• Practical ways families, carers and supporters can provide support

Who is it for?

This workshop is suitable for families, carers and supporters who want to feel more confident and informed when supporting the bowel health and wellbeing of adults.

Come along, learn, ask questions, and gain practical information you can use to support better health and wellbeing “

Meet your speaker: Wendy Stout

With over 30 years’ experience as a paediatric nurse, including 15 years as a Clinical Nurse Educator, Wendy has cared for children with a wide range of complex health conditions. Her clinical experience includes care of patients after complex bowel surgery and the management of chronic constipation, including supporting people with Down Syndrome and their families.

In 2023, she took a career sidestep, combining her passion for nursing education with her commitment to improving health outcomes for people with Down Syndrome. She now teaches the next generation of nurses at a tertiary level while also working with adults with Down Syndrome, their parents, carers and support workers.

She is passionate about ensuring that everyone, particularly our most vulnerable members of the community, has access to high-quality, person-centred healthcare. Through education, advocacy and health-care coordination, she supports families, carers and support workers to better understand and navigate the health system, promote ongoing health maintenance, and advocate for the healthcare needs of the people they support.

This session will be recorded.

Slides and resources from this session will be shared following the presentation.
