    Event description

The CRA Health and Wellbeing Committee offer this Seminar for both carers and for religious.

Mary Pellegrino CSJ, speaker, explains: “The seminar will provide an opportunity for participants to explore and reflect on life transitions that shape our human experience, with a particular focus on navigating these transitions within the context of a vowed life in religious community. Through input, table conversation, exercises and large group sharing participants will explore both the nature of the transitions, especially those that arise as we age, and the opportunities they present to all of us for companionship, support, and deeper meaning in our lives.”

As senior vice president at Plante Moran Realpoint (PMR), Mary Pellegrino CSJ assists religious communities through facilitation, animating the mission and charism, enhancing the quality of community life, and making the transitions necessary for continuing their mission into the future.

Mary served for 10 years as the Congregational Moderator of her community, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Baden, Pennsylvania, and also as President of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR). In both, Mary supported, encouraged, and promoted the ongoing renewal of religious life in the face of unprecedented challenges and changes in the Church, American society, and the global community. She has worked extensively with religious communities, both in the United States and beyond, and has represented women religious in the United States to various Vatican dicasteries.

As Congregational Moderator, Mary provided leadership for her Congregation’s sponsored nursing home, senior living residence, and the Sisters’ enrollment and participation in Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). In addition to spirituality and the promotion of justice, her community has had a long-standing focus on care of the earth as one of its core values.

Mary has a Master of Arts in Christian spirituality from Creighton University, a Master of Arts in religious education from Fordham University, and a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Mary was a speaker at CRA’s National Assembly in 2019.
