Description

Children by Choice is excited to announce that we are bringing our Supporting Reproductive Choice training to Cairns!

This full day, in-person training helps equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to provide informed, compassionate reproductive care, grounded in respect, patient autonomy, and evidence-based practice. Together we will explore important topics shaping reproductive healthcare today, including the impact of reproductive coercion and abuse, and how abortion stigma impacts both patients and providers. The session also highlights the importance of offering inclusive, non-directive pregnancy options so that every person can access care that is respectful, supportive, and centred on their needs.

Participants will take part in facilitated values clarification activities designed to encourage thoughtful reflection and open discussion. There will also be an opportunity to connect and network with other professionals working across the reproductive and sexual health space. By the end of the training, participants will leave with practical tools and insights to help create safe, affirming clinical environments and support people navigating complex reproductive decisions. Our aim is to strengthen understanding, challenge stigma, and empower healthcare professionals to deliver compassionate, high-quality reproductive healthcare.

Important information:

This training is funded by Queensland Health for Queensland Health employees. Queensland Health employees will be offered an additional training session focused on conscientious objection legislation and how to manage conscientious objection in the workplace. All other paid ticket participants will attend the main program only, with their day concluding at afternoon tea (2:30pm).

Coffee and tea will be available throughout the event, along with grazing platters offering a variety of small foods for lunch. A restaurant and snack bar are also on-site, where additional food and beverages can be purchased. Please note that outside food and drinks are not permitted at the venue.
