Supporting young people navigating self-harm & suicidal ideation
Event description
Supporting young people navigating self-harm & suicidal ideation; a free information session with Psychologist Cassie Eckard.
Join Psychologist Cassie Eckard for an information session designed to support parents, carers, educators, and community members in understanding and responding to youth self-harm and suicidal ideation.
This free session will explore common misunderstandings about self-harm, the key risk and protective factors that influence young people’s mental health, and practical strategies for asking young people about their safety in a sensitive and supportive way.
The evening will also cover how to respond effectively when a young person is at risk, while managing the distress this topic can create in parents/carers/education staff.
Many young people are overwhelmed by the mental health challenges of their friends, and witness distressing content from their friends online. Learn the tools to communicate openly with young people about their limitations as a friend.
